The Senior Ambassador Program, which matches Prime Time members with MSU college students, was the recipient of a joint award earlier this month from MSU University Outreach and Engagement. Prime Time benefits from partnerships with various stakeholders in the community including Michigan State University (MSU). Arndt also led a grant application in 2013 to renovate one of the East Lansing Hannah Community Center classrooms, where the Prime Time Seniors Program is housed, to serve as an art studio for Prime Time members. Under Arndt’s leadership, Prime Time achieved national accreditation through the National Council on Aging, which is granted to less than one percent of the nation’s senior centers. During her career as Prime Time director, Arndt was elected president of the Michigan Association of Senior Centers, representing more than 150 Michigan senior center directors statewide. Prime Time also hosts discussion groups, games and special events like a holiday shopping trip to the Somerset Collection, lunch on the Michigan Princess Riverboat and other fine dining opportunities.Īrndt graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in applied arts and marketing. East Lansing Prime Time Seniors Program Director Kelly Arndt is retiring at the end of this month after 31 years of dedicated service to the City of East Lansing.Īrndt was hired in the spring of 1992 to work in what was then called the Older People’s Program and is now known as the East Lansing Prime Time Seniors Program (Prime Time).
